Congratulations Irish SUP Team
Congratulations to the Irish SUP Team on their strong performance at the ISA World SUP Championships in Denmark. The team finished 23rd overall, with Australia taking the team title followed by France 2nd, New Zealand 3rd and Hawaii 4th.
Peter Kosinski had the best individual performance, finishing 9th in the Sprint race and only missing out on the Sprint Final by seconds. Sarah Gannon finished 21st in the Women's Sprint.
In the Distance Race, Ross McGarry and Keith Gorman were 52nd and 67th respectively and Claire McDonald earned her first cap to finish 51st in the Women's Distance Race.
In the technical race Peter Kosinski finshed 31st, Ross McGarry 42nd and Sarah Gannon in the Women's Distance was 44th.
Paul Byrne and Jason Smith were drawn in the same first round heat, with Jaosn finishing 2nd ahead of Paul in 3rd. Due to time constraints and poor surf conditions the Repecharge was cancelled, therefore Paul did not get the usual second opportunity to progress. Jason was knocked out in Round 2 and agian with no repecharge he had to settle for 25th place. Sarah Gannon progressed through heat 1 in the Women's SUP Surf beating Genna Flinkman, Canada and Joanna Ibrahim, Wales. In Round 2, Sarah finished 4th in her heat leaving her in 19th place overall.
