The Co Sligo Junior Surfing Championships is scheduled for Strandhill on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July and Co Sligo Surf Club has confirmed the event is on as they are expecting plenty of surf this weekend. The contest is the third Irish Junior Tour event of 2017. Junior Tour categories include U12 Boys & Girls, U14 Boys & Girls, U16 Boys & Girls, U18 Boys & Girls, U18 Longboard and U18 Bodyboard and are open to Irish passport holders or British passport, born Northern Ireland. Competitors must compete in their age category. Competitors can enter more than one discipline, eg surf, bodyboard and longboard. There will be an Open Junior category (not restricted to Irish Passport holders), any junior can entry this category along with their tour category, where eligible.

Co Sligo Surf Club will be hosting a Saturday Night Party for competitors with DJ and Barbecue at the Golf Club in Strandhill.
The contest will be followed by the first Irish Junior Surf Team training camp to start preparation for Eurosurf 2018 scheduled for Norway. To attend this camp a surfer must have been 11 years old on the 1st January 2017, must be competing on the Irish Junior Tour and capable of consistently paddling outside and taking off on unbroken waves.
