The Irish Junior Surf Team returned form Morcco last night having secured a 5th place finish at the
European Junior Surfing Championship where fifteen nations were represented and Portugal were crown Champions.
Maia Monaghan had the top individual result finishing 4th to secure a medal in the U18 Girls Bodyboard. For most of the team this was their first experience of international competition with nine new caps taking part, including Shane Lally, Sam Moore, Maia Monaghan, Una Britton, Louis Devenney, Finn Richardson, Eoin Lally, Neil McCarthy and Joe Breen. Two of the team, Jack Clohessy and Jack Scott had previously competed at Eurosurf Junior in 2014 held in the Azores.
Garbhan Mc Closkey joined a panel of judges from the competing nations to judge at the prestigious Championships. The Team Manager, Shauna Ward and Team Coaches, Jason Southcombe and Andrew Kilfeather were delighted with the team’s success.
