World Junior Surfing Championships

The ISA World Junior Surfing Chamionships will start at 18.30 today with the Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Forty six nations have gather to compete at the competition taking place from 24th November to 3rd December.

Ireland is led by Manager Gavin Mc Crea, who was a junior member of the Irish Surf Team that competed at the World Surfing Championship in 1994, on the last occasion that Rio de Janeiro hosted. It's inspiring to see Gavin back leading the current generation of young surfers along with Coaches, Ayesha Garvey, Una Britton and Ollie O'Flaherty, all former Irish Junior Surf Team members.

Akiya Moore and Tom Murphy will present sand from Tramore Beach at the Opening Sands of the World Ceremony.

Competition starts tomorrow and will run until the 3rd of December. We wish the team every success at the event. Family and friends at home can catch our surfers compete at https://isasurf.org/event/2023-rio-de-janeiro-isa-world-junior-surfing-championship/
